Windows DOES recognise other OSes.. you just have to tell it where to
look. It's been a long time since i've done something like this, but i
do know it's possible.

All you have to do is install linux and make sure to install grub into
the partition, and not the MBR, otherwise you'll overwrite the windows
NTLDR loader and will need to load windows through grub (although some
argue this is a good thing..).

>From windows you'll have to edit the boot.ini and add an entry to the
linux partition, and that's it.
