I think it is not neccessarily the people of the US (though there is that phrase the ugly American that has been around for awhile & does have some truth to it) but US foreigh policy that has created this sentiment. Mike said "One of the key factors, for better or worse, in 'keeping alive' the idea of the 'ould country' is the oral transmission of the old stories....I find it difficult to believe that these 'old stories' are not still in circulation." For some reason no one told me I had Irish in me. Can you imagine? I found it out when looking through my Grandmothers scrapbooks at the newsclipping of her family in Kentucky who the article said had named their land after their Irish homestead. It was like a huge lightbulb went off- of course! So sadly, I got no old stories... ******************************************** Kate Bennett www.katebennett.com sponsored by Polysonics www.polysonics.com Discover the Indies at Taylor Guitars: http://www.taylorguitars.com/artists/awp/indies/bennett.html ********************************************
