This is my first posting, so I hope I'm doing this right! After reading the many postings about "Talk to Me", I had to go get my CD out and listen to it. I am sure I've heard it before, but this is probably my least listened-to album (next to Mingus) and I couldn't seem to remember it... After hearing it, I have to say that it does have some very nice guitar (reminiscent for me of the Hejira sound) but the lyrics seem to be more juvenile than the usual Joni tune (ie, "til I pissed a tequila-anaconda") and much less "visually inspiring" for me than her average song. And the chicken squawk has got to go! One of my favorite things about Joni is her ability to inspire such marvelous visual imagery - like she is painting in my brain (OK. That sounds pretty stupid, but I can't think of a better way to describe it...) A couple of songs that are very visual for me are "Harry's House/Centerpiece" and "Lessons in Survival". Anyway, those are my two cents for the day. Long live Joni!
