As Bob Foster and the Orion team has pointed out, the implementations can tacitly
agree to create jsp92:includeIf, jsp92:loop, etc. and wait for the JSP team to flesh
out the core tags in 1.1.
I'd rather give the JSP team time to make the core tags nice, rather than forcing them
to rush through a half-baked proposal just to get it into 1.0. The usebean, getProp,
setProp, of 1.0 is much cleaner than the 0.92 proposal. And the jsp92:includeIf is
pretty messy. For example, I can't see the point of excludeif. If 'jsp:if' were done
properly, you could say something like <jsp:if test='<%= ! expr %>'>.
A little off topic pre-announcement announcement:
Caucho Technology's JSP 1.0 beta is now available for download at
http://www.caucho.com.
Caucho JSP comes with its own mini-httpd server and JSDK 2.1 servlet runner so you
just need a JDK to download and play.
The real announcement (beta 2) will come Real Soon Now, once the JavaScript support is
brought up to JSP 1.0 and the compatibility tags are implemented.
