Here are some questions that might get some chatter going...
I too, have always worked for myself (30 years), but CF projects are just part of what I do.  I am the "computer guy" for about 50 companies.  We all know what that means.  What CF does for me is, it allows me to identify problems or a better way of doing something and then proposing it to them.  Example, one of my clients is a property management company and they could get the contract to manage the Payless Cashway properties (after bankruptcy).  Payless had sites from FL to CA, so I proposed a site that an inspector local to the area would log on to, enter inspection info, upload pictures of damage, submit work orders, etc.  Any time something was saved to the site an email was sent to the management company, they would sign off on the insp, the repair, whatever.  You get the picture.    A bit of a ramble but "I" want to know how other people use CF in the real world .  Shopping Carts and Pet Stores don't always make good example programs.

Multiple projects?  Don't we all?  The real question should be, how many projects do you have in your head, on a napkin, in a file folder labeled "New Projects" that you think, "If I could just get the time, I could retire on this one."

How'd I learn it? same as everyone else...examples, books, lists, forums, etc.

Number one issue I have with this entire business is the number of programs, let alone the different versions, you need to know to do anything. ColdFusion, _javascript_, SQL, HTML,  CSS,  SQLServer, Flash Remoting, Actionscript, you get the point.  I still enjoy the rewards.

Maybe the topic for the next CFUG meeting should be "OT Chatter".
