Most pc's connect to open AP's without the user having to do anything. 
I can fire up my laptop under Ubuntu or Windows and it will connect to 
the strongest wifi network, I don't have to do anything.   Worse case is 
I have to select a network to connect to.   So, which "Linksys" network 
is mine??  I've changed my ssid, but I can sit in my living room and see 
4 linksys, mine, and "stacey" who is my neighbor across the street.  All 
have an excellent signal, and only 2 are locked down.  I sometimes think 
about opening the wifi and doing the upside down ternet. :)
