XO users, I had tried previous candidates with little luck but after a couple of
hours on 703, I can say it looks pretty good/stable.
Is 703 so far an improvement over 656? Enough that you recommend it?
I see there is a fairly recent firmware update (Q2D14 / 2008-03-13).
Have you tried that?
Do you know how I can tell the what firmware version I now have installed?
I'm not sure if you need a developers key for this or not since I have one and
it just worked. The page noting the release:

What does the Developer Key get you over not having one?

PS, I installed Xubuntu on an SD card and it looks pretty good but with some
warts.
Wireless worked, easy hack fixed touchpad querk, other hacks used to control
backlight. Reasonable fast off a 15MB/s 2GB SanDisk Ultra II from Costco. And
really thinking getting going on some Python coding will be helpful.

What kind of encryption, if any, have you tried with either 703 or Xubuntu?
I had WPA2 working after I updated to 656, but since I installed a
WRT54GL recently, I can't connect to my network anymore. I can still do
it with my Asus laptop so I know the LAN Wifi works okay at least with a
IPW2200 chip. The previous AP was a Netgear WG602v3 which worked fine
with the XO.
