I will say that I've run into "techs" who only know Windows and only care about Windows and will do anything to get Windows on computers. It makes them money supporting it and it makes them comfortable because that is all they know and the "magic" it takes to keep it running for another week is worth gold to the ignorant computing public. And it's paid their bills for years and years. I've seen developers spend days on Windows OS issues but stick with it because they know it somewhat so they stick with it. Most Windows devs don't even look outside of their Microsoft Windows application landscape to see what open source software on Windows can do. Not all Andrew, but most of the Windows developers I've ever been around. Most haven't even burned an ISO image let alone installed CygWin, Python, Apache, etc. But I also know a couple who have.
