Glad to hear that! Last Sunday it came time to dip into our middle
kid's college fund (courtesy grandma/pa) for a laptop for his dorm room
this fall. I handed him a pile of Sunday flyers and set the price limit
at $650. He picked the HP Pavilion dv6408nr...

Man, I'm amazed at what can be had in that price-range these days -- in
terms of bells/whistles, component quality, and array of ports and slots.

P.S. Hm, now, if I could only sneak into his room to run install_check
http://www.sun.com/bigadmin/hcl/hcts/install_check.html
and Belenix LiveCD... Problem is, I'm sure he's boobytrapped it against
younger sibling's hands. Hm, maybe Dad's too for that matter :-)!

But OpenSolaris should support it just fine -- epecially given its
nVidia 6150 graphics. Though I don't know yet what the wireless chipset
is -- hopefully not Broadcom.

P.S.S. Oh, and check this out... Eastern Illinois U. (where he's
going), lists Ubuntu as a supported system for dorm residents.

Oh, and their recommended word processor? ... StarOffice 8 of course!
