This needs knocking on the head once and for all before it gets any further. HMRC make challenges to CVAs if they have a reasonable prospect of recovering more money as a result. They usually leave any such challenges until the last moment to see how things develop and to take account of all circumstances. I have been able to confirm that NOTHING that was pointed out to HMRC by the MP3 was news to HMRC. HMRC had a solicitor working on the Leeds CVA from before the creditors meeting and even more intensively after it. They were on the ball and forensically examining what had taken place. There is no evidence that the MP3 were instrumental in making any challenge happen and nor did they affect the timing of the challenge AFAIK. The MP3 may have brought matters to the governments attention and thereby into the national public domain and they may have been able to say things that otherwise could not have been said, but they almost certainly did not bring about the challenge to the CVA. Even if they had have done, then they would still only be doing the job that they are elected to do. Of course there may be those who wish to identify a convenient scapegoat so as to deflect attention from what really went on and you have to question who might benefit from such deflections. By the way, I think it is to be expected that we will now have a campaign of blaming the football League for all of our clubs troubles. They are gonna be the baddies from tomorrow. If we give it a week will you be posting on here accusing the FL of causing all of this ? We will see. > Seriously, we were almost out of the woods when the MPs started their mischief-making. Are you saying this because you don't realise that the normal sequence of events is silence, silence, silence, and then bang, a challenge at the 11th hour ? Slowly, slowly catchee monkey. _______________________________________________ the Leeds List is an unmoderated mailing list and the list administrators accept no liability for the personal views and opinions of contributors.
