It's weird, this football supporting lark, isn't it? We've got 30,000 fans coming to 3rd rate football and getting behind the team. Yes, we grumble like fcuk when we play badly, but we continue to support them. What do we want ultimately? Success? Well you would have thought so but ... Say we went on a mad 13 game winning streak (Eternal optimism rules OK!) and by a fluke got the 15 points back and won the league. We'd all be ecstatic. Next season, bouyed by massive investment from some dodgy foreigners, we won the Championship. Magnificent. Then what .... Prices rocket, 'real' fans unable to go, 40,000 a week turn up but, of those, 20,000 are now the corporate 'prawn sandwich' brigade. Mid table mediocrity sets in, we sneak a run in the UEFA after a few years but ... but something is missing again, or is it?! What do we, as fans, actually want? It's a no win situation if you are a traditional footy fan. Maybe we just need to sell our souls to the corporate devil and be done with it!
