I don't think we were quite played off the park by them. We didn't play particularly well (I did have a joke about being lots of rubbish on the pitch - and some carrier bags and crisp packets too; but that was an obvious one even before the game), but they never even made it near our goal until half an hour was gone. Their most used tactic was to have a player collapse in their own box when we were attacking - on one occasion two of them managed it. Plus there was that "oh-no, we screwed up our substitution - and after you slowly walked all the way over here to come off too" that suggested they couldn't wait for the game to end.
I normally spend any game in a heightened state of panic where the opponent looks like Brazil and we look like a bunch of Sunday Leaguers who've only just met, eternally one shanked pass from gifting a goal. Crewe never really triggered that reaction, even after the goal and their improvement in the second half (which given their first, did not have to be much of one to be noticeable). - Si Richard Walker wrote: > Yes Rob, but we've been played off the park by Crewe > at home.
