For the most part I think that the players we have are decent at this level. Most managers of other teams seem to say that player for player we are better than them. Of the new arrivals - Sweeney, Sheehan, Kilkenny ,Kenton have all played at a higher level - Lubo was a regular in the Prem when he signed for us. Thompson and Flo although both past it, have played at the very top level. Johnson and Elding were both being chased by a number of other clubs in our Division. Beckford can certainly play at a higher Division. Huntington has played a number of Premiership games. Richardson and Douglas have played in Prem. Rui is better than 3rd Division. Westlake was a hit at Ipswich in the (real) 2nd division, Hughes was a good (real) 2nd Division player. Carole too played a lot of games for Brighton in 2nd Div. etc etc So clearly as individuals, we should be walking this League, and indeed for the first 12 or so matches we were - OK we rode our luck at times and did win games where over the 90mins we were not the better team, but we had a rigid plan that we stuck to, and had a passion, belief and unity about us (ruined as I said before by Poyet leaving). I never thought McAllister was the right man - we should have tried for an experienced manager like Billy Davies - but we have got him. He needs to find a method of playing which the players are comfortable with - yes a nice fluid passing game is great but it needs players who can control and pass a ball, then move - something that seems beyond us at times. Then he needs to stick to his guns in terms of both tactics and personnel - whilst Kandol and Heath etc were not everyones cup of tea they did fit into the team pattern and ethic and knew that one mistake would not cost their place in the team - now they are all under too much pressure . We need consistency , there have been many to many changes, some enforced, some not this season - we need a settled team and then we as fans need to get 100% behind them !!! No tream has ever been sucessful who have had 18 debutants and 30 odd players in one season and never will !!! Dave
