Oh dear.............I seem to have annoyed a few people. Didn't expect that!
Perhaps I should clarify.................what I object to is the way EVERYBODY is forced to "remember" those who died in wars at this time of year. Firstly, this is not true remembrance, just doing waht everybody else is doing..............secondly, it gives people an excuse to forget all about these issues for the rest of the year. I feel exactly the same way about Mother's Day and Father's Day; I try to love and respect my parents every day of the year. I quite deliberately used the word FASCISM because the idea of everybody being told what to think and when, and being bullied and coerced into wearing symbols, is exactly what the brave conscripts in WW2 were fighting against. I don't expect much agreement from this list, though, given the Daily Mail opinions that were expressed recently about the Scots. That's another reason why Celtic & Rangers should not be allowed to join the PL.............I bet they didn't embroider poppies onto their shirts this weekend! Or maybe they did (I have no idea)...........in which case they SHOULD be allowed to join...........to replace those 5 clubs who refused to do so. _____ From: Richard Walker [mailto:[email protected]] To: Robert Heath [mailto:[email protected]], Leeds List [mailto:[email protected]], [email protected] Sent: Sun, 08 Nov 2009 09:19:56 +0100 Subject: Re: [LU] Game That probably explains why you live don't live over here anymore. Poppy fascism - ffs ! _____ From: Robert Heath <[email protected]> To: Richard Walker <[email protected]>; Leeds List <[email protected]>; [email protected] Sent: Sun, 8 November, 2009 0:29:18 Subject: Re: [LU] Game The biggest talking point so far is the Leeds fans ruining the minutes silence for the war dead. I can only think that it was supporters either coming into the ground or outside that caused the noise ? Hope so anyway. Hope not! I would be proud of any Leeds fans who made a stand against all the ridiculous poppy fascism which consumes this country every November. _______________________________________________ the Leeds List is an unmoderated mailing list and the list administrators accept no liability for the personal views and opinions of contributors.
