I'm 46 now, and as I'm originally from Harwich in Essex, my first away game was in 1971, and my first home game was in 1981! My dad took me to the Leeds away game at Ipswich in August 1971, which we won 2-0. As I watched the pre-match video last night on the big screen, I saw the clip of Jack Charlton scoring at Ipswich, and it occurred to me that the goal might have been scored in that game. Does anyone know when Charlton managed to find the net at Portman Road? I first travelled up to Leeds for the third round FA Cup tie with Coventry in January 1981. We drew 1-1 and lost the replay.
