When i remember my first games at Elland Road, it was the late 40's early 50's In those days at the Lowfield Road end, immediately behind the goal, was the schoolboys enclosure. It was a penned in section for kids. My grandma used to take me and because she was very short they used to let her into the schoolboys enclosure with me. Come the mid 50's on a Friday afternoon at school when Leeds were playing at home the next day, one of the teachers used to come round the class-rooms asking who wanted free tickets for Elland Road, YES FREE TICKETS. The ticket wasn't the posh things of today it was a wrinkled green bit of card with 'pass' written on it or something like that. These tickets were used over and over again hence the wrinkled condition. Tony Hill will remember he's a similar age to me.
