When I were a lad still going to the games with my dad we would go to the
Fox and Hounds in Horforth (alright Cookridge for the more pedantic of you)
for opening time at 5:30, and at 6pm sharp Big Bernard would go across the
road to the Menzies newsagent and return with an armful of "Green 'uns" and
an armful of "Pink 'uns" - were the "Pink 'uns" the Bratfud paper?
Even at the height of the Revie era more people in Leeds (particularly north
Leeds) were more interested in Leeds RL than LUFC.
Cheers
Graham (not Palmer or Farr)

Who remembers the Yorkshire Evening Post and Yorkshire Evening News trucks
banging out the football results on the stop press on the backs of the
newspapers.
And later on in the streets all round Leeds blokes yelling and selling
"Green Final".
What a great paper that was for YorkshireSport. It was all printed and
sold within a
couple of hours of the games finishing.

Thirkers, I too remember those "free" tickets given out at school to get
into games, I managed to get away with freebies for a god 3 or 4 years
before they either called a halt to it or I left school one or the other
