Sounds incredible when you think about THorpe Arch and the immediate need for some good signings to help with promotion ? I remember at the time Bates saying that he sold Delph to Villa because they have behaved impecably unlike Chelsea and Man City. No doubt Chelsea or Man CIty would have paid up-front.
