Hello again. (church is at 6:00, not 5 as I thought. but I did need to go
out to the grocery store to buy some walnuts.)
I forgot to add to the finishing process. the plywood and pine was skim
coated with a Dap-spackling compound.( the one that stated it will not dry
or shrink.) after dry is was lightly sanded with 220 grit sand paper, and
then stained.
The spackling compound is cheap in price,Easy to put on, dry's quickly and
is very easy to sand down,And after sanded ,its smooth to the touch and I
find is a good base for stain.
I've been using this process for 15 years now and have not had any problem
with it.
I tried this technique after reading about sealing with plaster of Paris
back in the early 1800's This is my spin off. I have been using this on my
Plywood martial art dummy's for years. I figure if a dummy (mook jong)
,which is hit, punched, and kicked thousands of times per month can hold up,
it will work on kids stuff as well.

I do not have a spray booth or spray gun, all my finishes are ragged wiped,
hand brushed or oiled. and sealed with Shellac, and or poly. or both
depending on the job.

now its time to get ready to go.
talk to you all latter.
C.A.G.
