That pdf does not apply to your machine unless you have the updated z-axis. If you do have this style, I have different advice for you.
A can of dynaglide is highly recommended but I will add that Your y-axis needs to move smoothly disconnected from the acme screw. The screw is simply overcoming any resistance. I can't stress enough that the aluminum rails need to be square to the machine and parallel to each other or any other adjustment made to the red brackets mounted to the aluminum plate that holds the router will just cover up alignment problems. The bracket that has the split nut has slots in the piece for adjustment. The other side has holes which makes it closer to a fixed location. If you measure the distance between the pads on the front and back they should be the same. Otherwise things are not right. Does that make sense? -Tim ----- Original Message ----- From: Brandon Khoury To: legacy-ornamental-mills@googlegroups.com Sent: Thursday, November 15, 2012 1:27 PM Subject: Re: Legacy 1000ex setup questions. Actually, when the splitnut is engaged, I don't notice the resistence so much, its seems more prevelant when trying to "freehand" without the splitnut engaged. Here's the link to the Carriage upgrade: http://www.legacywoodworking.com/PDFs/Z-axisSplitNutUpgrade.PDF It says Z-axis, but it is clearly along what I would call the X-xis, or the length of the legacy. I'll make sure to check the placement of the acme screw. Though I believe it may have been slighly bowed during tranport. It's not creating a functional problem, other than riding against each other.
