Before my house fire took everything I tig welded 2 pieces of rail together to
extend my 900 mill before that they were bolted together with a metal plate I
never got round to posting it on the group a day or 2 after is when I lost it
all. I just tig welded every where except where things slid it seemed to work
quite well. To weld it I clamped the pieces to a flat metal plate to keep
everything flat and strait then tacked it together then finished the welds.

So if you can find a good welder company it is possible. I think I did post the
bolted with metal plate to the group it would be somewhere in the archives, the
trouble with that of course if finding it.

One of the more fun projects was combining two 900s. The man's name was Begat.
He's no longer a member unfortunately, but I'm pretty sure it was documented
here. I could not find it doing a quick search.

No, I don't have a list of stuff I've offered in the past and for the moment I
don't have anything for sale, so that's easy😀!

There are a couple techniques you can do to extend your mill. Curt did one and
Roger (CCM) did one. The short version is you can do 1/2 of the work and
extended one end of the work out the end. Then you flip the work and finish it.
80/20 can be used for the inner rails with a small modification. Any way, it's
in the old messages.

A long time ago I was collecting and editing the great posts and keeping them
on ornamentalmills.com <http://ornamentalmills.com> . Health again stopped
that in 2013, but I'm actively working on that along with over 1000 images to
post, 400 of them never seen before.

thanks Tim.

Yes I agree I have bought several items from Legacy direct and would not go
against good old common respect.

so in order to see the pix we would have to go through all the posts then?

I would like to see the list of parts you have and do offer?

I really wish rail extensions we available.

I don't really have any pictures. My setup was like Bill's. The only difference
is I made my sprockets from .120 laser cut steel.

I've fabricated a pretty wide range of items for the late model machines, but
mostly designed for the model 900. Tools for leveling the bed easily, two inch
taller legs to max out the turning radius to those off the 1800, custom gears,
a quick change direction changer, a reciprocator, custom index plates and the
latest is a new headstock and tail stock for the revo. I don't have a catalog,
but all items have been shown I. The group at one point.

Health problems cut me down in 2012 so I've had to stop building custom items.
I'm working my way back to being able to offer legacy components.

One thing I've never done is making anything that legacy makes. We need to
support the mothership for as long as they help support us.

I would love to see all the new people show what they are doing than seeing new
messages from the core guys like me, Mike, curt, and bill etc.

Thanks for the questions and comments.

Tim where you down loading a pic or attaching the link to it?

I've heard your quite an innovator. The others have spoken highly of you.

I think for you guys that have been at this a while could post a pic or so a
week

of different innovations you've done would be a great inspiration and get us

LOM newbies as well as the seasoned ones like your self motivated to try

new areas.

I don't know if I ever showed what I did with #25 chain. I made my own
sprockets and keyed them to the drive spindle and lead screw. It worked great.
Lots of wisdom in the old post for sure. We were all younger and more
ambitious!
