And I don't wish to have to remember to unsort those events which I do not wish to be sorted by date. At least with the present system three clicks of the mouse and all events are sorted by date. I would have to find the pages I don't want sorted in that manner and then change them individually as there is no way that someone can write a program to do it in a few clicks.

I was glad to find the little box to check inside the repair function - sort by date.

It *does* sort by date, but the sort function isn't self-perpetuating. In other words, it sorts the events presently in the database, but does not set my future preference to continue sorting by date. The next time I enter an event, I again have to click the sort by date button.
