If you are mostly concerned about the closest two or three generations, one way
is to start a new file beginning with yourself, which will be saved as RIN #1
Then do a few sequential exports from the original file and import into the new
file, for example export your parents (with or without their other children
depending on on whether you want the grandparents lower numbered than your
brothers and sisters). Then do the grandparents and so on. With each import,
Legacy will use the lowest numbers available so you can "group" the RINS
differently based on the order you import.

Personally, I never use RINs or MRINS for anything other than as a temporary
bookmark when doing other activities.
