Barbara: The biggest problem you'd have with Legacy7 in printing a book (or anything else with sources) is that they don't work properly right now and you can end up with a major mess on your hands. A fix has been promised, but it's been a very long time coming. Other than that, I think v.7 is fine except for some minor bugs here and there.
I agree with Richard: A chart to use along with the text is essential. Like JL, I like fan charts best. Seems like everyone can follow those easier than the other formats. And I also second Elizabeth's advice about tailoring the report to suit your family. For example, my sons are primarily interested in where their ancestors came from, so for us I would do separate sections for the Dutch, Acadian, Irish, Norwegian, Puritan branches, etc. That way, I can include some maps and history without getting them totally confused. Most non-genealogists are bored to tears with the typical books that we can print, so depending on the age of your audience you might consider doing a little summary at various points and then go into the hard core names, dates, and locations that you can get from Legacy. At first your grandchildren might only look at the summaries, but if you can get them "hooked" they'll appreciate the details (and sources) eventually. With the publishing center, what can i do along this line? You don't mention the Publishing Center, (which is in the Deluxe part), so I suspect you don't have it, or hadn't found it yet. You might check that out, and be pleasantly suprized about what that tool can do. > Rich in LA CA > > > --- On Sun, 10/26/08, Barbara Ford <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > >> From: Barbara Ford <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> >> Subject: [LegacyUG] Report Question >> To: [email protected] >> Date: Sunday, October 26, 2008, 5:40 PM >> I've been months away from the program and am >> re-acquainting myself >> currently.
