Using the same version of 7, when the screen comes up asking for me to either put in my account information or to join now, I go to the bottom of that screen and click the search without creating an account, then it comes up for me to search on the person list, find the person you want to search on, hit search, it does so, and then if there are results, the view results will be clickable.
