Ruth,

The documentation is correct. You need to read more slowly and carefully.

The "In addition" means exactly what it states. If you have other documents
that are not picture files, sound files, or video files; then you must USE
the "File" icon. The "File" icon would mean documents such as PDF, MS Word,
WordPerfect, a VISIO drawing, an Excel Chart, etc...

"Adding Other Documents

In addition to pictures, sound, and video files, you can also attach any
other type of document to a person (or to an event, source, or location).
These documents can be word processing files, PDF files, spreadsheets, web
pages - whatever you like. Just as with sound and video files, these other
documents cannot be included on reports, but you can load and view them as
you would any other file. Double-clicking on a word processor document
starts your word processor and displays the file. The same happens for any
other type of file. Whatever program is associated with that file type will
be loaded to display the file. To add a document, click the FILE button and
specify the drive and folder where the file can be found."

Just seems to me this FILE function of Legacy isn't working as per the
documentation!

Loading TIF's or JPG's from the PICTURE icon makes no difference. They still
won't open. Why will a TIF file display properly in PHOTOs along with a JPG
file for the same individual when added from the PHOTOS icon?

Besides, this advice is contrary to the Legacy HELP documentation on the
subject of ADD - Documents.....

For JPG, TIFF, etc. I think you are supposed to use PICTURE. Try that.
