Which is why I said "I am looking at a GRO Index of Registration date and not a suggested, approximate or calculated date of a Vital Event. Seeing a Q date also tells me at a glance that I have the GRO Registration information already so can apply for a Certificate if I wish. If I see a date like "abt January 1856" I don't know, without further investigation, where I derived that date. Also "abt" can mean different things to different people. I prefer to use abt when I am fairly sure of a date to within a year ("abt 1856" meaning 1855, 1856 or 1857) or within a month ("abt January 1856" meaning Dec 1855 or Jan or Feb 1856.) -- Jenny M Benson Legacy User Group guidelines: http://www.LegacyFamilyTree.com/Etiquette.asp Archived messages after Nov. 21 2009: http://www.mail-archive.com/legacyusergroup@legacyusers.com/ Archived messages from old mail server - before Nov. 21 2009: http://www.mail-archive.com/legacyusergroup@legacyfamilytree.com/ Online technical support: http://www.LegacyFamilyTree.com/Help.asp Follow Legacy on Facebook (http://www.facebook.com/LegacyFamilyTree) and on our blog (http://news.LegacyFamilyTree.com).
