Think of the Address List as something for current addresses like your
phone book (does anyone have one of those any more? <g>) This could
even include a nursing home address or other group home if they're
living in that situation.

The Residence Event is a historical event - this is where they *used*
to live. After a person dies, I put the current mailing address in the
Residence Event and maybe with a note that it was their last address
before they died.

When I search Census records, I create a Census Event and then events
that I glean from the census, including occupation, residence, etc.
Most of the time when there's a Residence event created from the
census, I can't figure out a street address so I leave the Description
field blank. And of course, use the census for the source of
information.

As for the family home where several generations have lived, you can
create a separate Residence event for each person who lived there -
really quick with the use of the Event Clipboard and then just make a
quick change of dates in the newly created event. The Event clipboard
will remain the same or you can set a new one if you have a large
family to paste that event to.

Some people might use Shared Events for this, but I prefer using Event
Clipboard since I find it much more flexible than Shared Events.

Sherry
