Ian I too have run across this… I use simple logic.
Which one seems to be more accurate. (ie, tombstone with correct dates, burial location[does it correlate with SSDI], and sometimes I look at siblings, to see where there were buried.) Unfortunately you have to choose ONE memorial number.
