Hi Robert
I used to have the same complaint an I got what is, for me, the perfect
solution. I add the wife of John Doe as Unknown [Mrs. Doe] Unknown. Or if
you have only her first name , Emma [Mrs. Doe ] Unknown. Notice that the
Unknown is still used but I do this every time and gradually all of my
unknowns will be entered that way. This does not solve the male unknowns,
but as we are often working with wives from the census there are fewer men
to worry about in that respect
Sometimes when I am not able to connect to the Internet, I will do a few
Unknowns this way from my file. so sooner or later all of my female unknowns
will have her married name next to her given name
Hope this helps you
May all your tears be of joy and laughter
