Having experienced some time ago what Wendy has just reported,
and as Pam also reported about 3 weeks ago, I have responded to
both Pam and Wendy privately, giving them my personal take on the
matter, and what might be done about it. Since others are experiencing
the same phenomenon I shall post my response here just in case
someone else may find it useful.

I'm not a computer geek, but my conclusion is that my computer
has run low on Random Access Memory. I have a relatively new
computer using XP Home with 512 MB of RAM and 85% free space
on my hard drive, but after an all day and into the evening session
at the computer with Legacy and other programs, even this machine
can run out of RAM.

Before I begin my lengthy Legacy session, I am careful to exit any
programs that are running unnecessarily, and close any unneeded
web windows. However, I always have my firewall, anti-virus and
anti-spyware running in the background. I know these use up
resources, but I consider them absolutely essential.

Sometimes notes can be instantly restored by clearing the cache,
but sometimes it is still desirable to stop and reboot. When I do
reboot, I usually defragment at that time if I haven't performed that
chore lately. About once a month I use the System Restore Cleanup
to keep my computer from becoming unnecessarily sluggish. I also
clean out cookies by hand at least once a week, deleting anything
I don't recognize, don't want or don't need.

Following this rigorous maintenance program, I have so far avoided
another of those unnerving episodes of disappearing notes in Legacy.

However around 11.30pm (prior) to shutting down the computer
Legacy throws a wobbler and any notes in any individual I am
looking at have all disappeared and gone blank and the program
freezes. Even when I switch to another person I have the same
thing ... Blank notes.
