Hi Ruth
Yes there is a beautiful list of shortcut keys [this is one of my
favoritest features and there is even a page that you can print out to use
as a cheat sheet until you have them memorized
One is to put the cursor in a location and hit shift F9 and that location
is memorize until you shut the program down which means that you need to
memorize it anew every day the other really neat key is the F8 key . you hit
that when you have entered a location several times and it duplicates your
last entry [you do not have to memorize anything here]
in family view hit EM it takes you to where you can edit the marriage. or
try EH or EW, one edits the husband and one edits the wife

Without taking the time to look at my manual, are you saying we can
arbitrarily assign sources/censuses/etc to a shortcut key? If that's
correct - how cool is that!
Okay, I looked it up in the manual but haven't tried it yet.

Ok, OK, already here goes my contribution for what it is worth.
Personally I like the word WITNESS for such as was at the birth of my
daughter' third child where many friends an relatives gathered to witness
the birth.
But in the case of listed members of the family, I like to enter the
census documentation into LEGACY and set it to document every time I hit
alt 3 on the keyboard. so I start with the head of the house and work my
way down the census list doing the alt 3 for every person added.
Reminding you that alt 3 shows all the data about that particular census,
enumeration district, number of the image, date census was taken and so
on.
Please be aware if the census was taken in July and a member of the
family died in January the census taker was obligated to list every one
in
the household to be listed that was in the house hold in 1930 for
instance. So, if grandpa died in January he could hardly be a witness if
he was dead. so I just call the census event a census event
Thankfully we can all do what we want and how we want but I share my
idea in case it might help someone with this WONDERFUL program called
LEGACY to see a slightly different way to deal with these events. And I
hope this helps
