Hello Jim

So are you saying?

If you wish to retain both V5 and the new V6 - make sure you label the
downloaded Ver6exe file as LegacyNew.exe.

If you wish to only have Legacy 6 "uninstall Legacy 5" or
Let Ver 6 overwrite Version 5 (backups made of course etc)

Sorry I am a very happy user of Legacy but not a computer guru.

Thanks

Anne Wiltshire

Subject: RE: [LegacyUG] Uninstall earlier versions first?

Jon,

This situation doesn't come up much, but it has a solution.

A user who wants both Legacy 5 AND Legacy 6 installed should not uninstall
Legacy 5. He should download the Legacy6Setup.exe setup program. Either the
'Install from the Web' or the 'Full Setup' can be used.

Next he/she must the Legacy6Setup.exe to the hard drive and then rename it
to LegacyNew.exe. When run, the setup program will check to see if it has
the name of LegacyNew.exe and if it does it will consider the setup to be a
new installation.

The user will be prompted for all of the settings a new user would see when
they installed the first time. When prompted for the 'install location' the
user should specify something other than the default C:\Legacy. If you leave
the default as is and don't change it, Legacy 5 (or whatever version is
there) will be overwritten.
