Shirley, Customers of any "downloadable" software program should plan to use the current (Deluxe) version unless there is some issue with an older version of Windows. Mailing list discussions are confusing for users limited to the Standard (unpaid) version or a prior version.
One of the best ways to learn Legacy is to check features or methods mentioned in the mailing list even if you are not ready to use them. Full program downloads were discussed for an earlier version when a researcher's book project was affected by an unexpected change. He was able to go back to an older build and an older database to finish a project in time for a family reunion. There were at least three public updates for Legacy 5 after the two April 2005 builds. If anything happens to a computer with DOWNLOADED software, it is necessary to have one of the following to work with Legacy files: Program CD plus Internet connection for online update Saved full download of latest build used for the file There is no small Legacy 5 patch file to update a computer without a working Internet connection. Full download of the latest version 5 must be used. -- Elizabeth ----- Original Message ----- From: "Shirley York Anderson" I am using V5 Standard dated April 2005 but the more I use Legacy the more I realize that I need to upgrade to Deluxe. After reading the messages about V6, I think I am not ready to try its complexities until I have more experiece.
