Bill

I cannot reproduce your problem....

The location list will accept more than one format for the same
place...depending on when an appropriate county or territory was formed.

(example below)
Opelousas Post, Louisiana
Opelousas, St. Landry, Louisiana Territory
Opelousas, St. Landry, Louisiana, USA

This format shows Opelousas as a military fort before Louisiana Purchase,
The community...with parish designation...before Louisiana Purchase.....and
then the same place today.

The problem usually occurs when some people try to use GEO for the location
and then apply GEO to all people instead of keeping all versions. I have
all and get no errors while inputting data.

Cathy, I thought about reverting to a backup before I fixed the problem by
simply changing all the bad locations to WV. To use a backup I would have to
know when the problem occurred. Let's say it was two weeks ago. However,
I've spent many hours in the last two weeks adding information to my file.
I'm not about to toss all that out and try to recreate it. Better to fix a
known problem that recreate two weeks of work.

The problem came about when I used the Geo Location Database to find what
county Vivian was in, then clicked on one of the Select buttons. Apparently
instead of just adding the location to the current field, Legacy decided to
add it to about 246 other names.
