Dennis, when I did a virus scan (did everything to try "something" -it showed an "error" in "URL Legacy" - but for the life of me I couldn't figure out what that meant - what error in the URL of Legacy? Even if I'd gone into the folders I would not have known enough to delete those ones you told me to delete - I'd be deleting years and years of work instead, then the computer would be living on the back porch roof.... keeping your note so I won't forget should it happen again. Many thanks

Kate

You're welcome.

The problem was that when you clicked a button Legacy opened a window
and was waiting for you to enter some data. Unfortunately, the window it
opened was off-screen (you couldn't see it). So Legacy appeared to
freeze. Legacy2.usr contains all of Legacy's window coordinate data,
which in your case was corrupt. So deleting it forced Legacy to position
any windows it opened back at their default locations.

Easy when you know the trick!

Now if the programmers could only figure out why the .usr files are
always getting corrupted...
