And please, please, please have the option to automatically list both birth name and married name(s). This is something that is available in one of your competitor's programs. It automatically lists Mary Smith and her married name of Mary Brown. It is SO much easier when trying to find the "right" Mary Brown, when I may have several. Also helpful when tracing those strong old gals who outlived several husbands.
And as for alternate names, for some of my folks it would be nice. For some folks, it is freaking imperative. I've got one relative who we know could read and write...but who didn't like his name. He spelled his last name three different ways, and used almost a half dozen variants of his given name....and various mixtures of the two. (And there's no explanation why he gave a son the same name - at least he just used one of the last names, and two of the given names.)
