Hi Tracy,
I have no problems with privacy brackets around Surnames eg [[COOPER]] in names with any reports. I didn't have any, to my knowledge in AKAs or dates so I've tried and still no problem. The words within the [[ ]] simply don't print unless you check Print [[ Private ]] notes

No Error 5
Perhaps something else is causing the error. It's not one I'm familiar with. I'd write to Support direct <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>

I did discover that putting [[ ]] around a date with bef or abt etc removes the prefix and have reported that.

Hi there,
My goal is NOT to print or display incorrect AKAs or dates in reports,
but to have them listed in my file so that I don't have to research
those names/dates again. For dates I can create an event and make it
private.

I use Legacy 6 deluxe and I've started with one person, and put double
brackets around one AKA that I'd like private, brackets are around
three fields: given names, surname, and prefix. An Individual report
handles the brackets fine.

Preview to screen/printer or create a pdf in Family Group Record,
shows an error message "Error 5. Invalid procedure call or argument".
I can create text and html files but the individual with brackets on
one AKA doesn't appear in these reports, even though private is
unchecked on information screen.

Descendent Book - for individual with brackets can be created, when I
try selecting the spouse without the brackets I get "Error gathering
descendents. Error 5. Invalid procedure call or argument". Report
options has Print [[Private]] Notes unchecked.

Take the brackets out and all is fine, Legacy doesn't seem to like
double brackets [[ ]] around surnames for Family Group Records and
Descendent Reports.

Is there any way around this error? How do others deal with incorrect names?

Cheers
Tracy
