Thanks Don. Sorry for the confusion. We've logged the request in our Enhancements project to do "something" to accommodate for the history/origin/etc. of surnames. Like Dennis later mentioned, what all we would do with it, I don't know yet. I, too, am interested in learning from others what they would forsee with this. Regardless, I think it would be interesting to be able to track this kind of information about surnames.
