I have a record for each Surname with AKA's for all of the various spellings; Events for: origin of name, surname distribution in various US censuses, cemetery with photo of marker put up to honor a family, and stuff like that.

When I print an ancestor report, I link, as the "father", the Surname Of HAHN record to the earliest person I have.

Will you add that to Legacy's suggestion place?

On a related note...

Has anyone found a need to attach a note to a Master Surname? Maybe for
the purpose of describing the origin of the surname? Or spelling
variations?
