I know it will fill in any unused numbers, but I want to start over with me as # 1 and work logically back.

But how long would it stay logically in order? When I first started this game I had a numbering system that was very logical and worked progressively through each generation. But then I started discovering more and more relatives and had to keep re-numbering to accommodate them in the "right place."

In the end I gave up and reverted to using the RINs and life is so much less complicated.

You are right that it doesn't stay in logical order. I started with myself (manually) as #1, my husband #2 then my children, my parents, my father's parents. After that I just gave up and let Legacy number them. Then I went into Options, Customise and had all the user I.D.'s filled with the RIN. At least I can keep the first few in order. I realize that I should probably have added my parents before I added my husband, but was playing around learning how to use Legacy. I didn't feel like going back and changing it as that didn't seem very important. I find it helps to have the RIN in the user I.D as they stay the same even if the RIN changes. I imported some names from a gedcom and had numbers up in the 20,000 and didn't have that many people in my file. Finding the last number in order was easy using the name list showing the User I.D. number. This way I was easily able to change those RIN numbers that didn't fit.
