I've also heard there might be issues with capital letters. But that
is probably more about internet files. Like David suggested, I
wouldn't use underscores, but maybe you could use dashes instead.

My naming convention suggestion would be to start a file with last
name, then the first name, then the date, and then the event or
document type. Maiden names are tricky. I go back and forth on that.
Perhaps add the married name after the given name, if the file is a
photo, say, of a woman later in her life when she is married, or her
death certificate. Then it groups with all the other event files in
her name.

Good luck - this is a task I am dreading to do, too.
