Owen, you should know what you are talking about before you say anything. Pen-l, which
I
tried to put up with but could not, is mostly liberals who talk left until you scratch
their ideology a bit. Get one of them to explain to you the "efficiency" of capitalism
via Imperialism, and then they will love you. Mostly left-talking neo-liberals or post
modernists. (pen l, if memory serves, stands for progressive economists network -
listserve. I might be wrong)
I applaud all those who can wade into the list and fight it out, mainly because this
list promotes itself as left in a vague sense (hence the liberals and post modernists),
but they tend to trust the basics of the imperial system in a way which I can not as
yet
be patient with. I don't know how many put up with it, and even less can I understand
how some can do it so politiely and patiently (Yoshie comes to mind). I just want to
scream.
And they love Kostunica and hate Milosevic. Go check it out. Have fun asking them why
Nato bombed Yugoslavia, you'll find kindred spirits. :-)
