Much to his praise, indeed. A lot of us here loves Owen, in fact. And he knows this.
It is interesting to see how on these lists people who on the streets might end with
a bleeding nose can find that even the Great Enemy has something interesting to say
and to learn from. I admit I have come to a better understanding (sympathy would be
too much) of the dilemmas of Stalinism through these lists, an understanding that
has allowed me to see deeply into what carried Leon Trotsky to keep supporting the
Soviet Union of Stalin. These debates, I admit, I would have never been able to wage
in person without some shouts and eventual skirmishes. I hope Owen comes here back
and again due precisely to that thirst of learning that moves me to like him so
much.
