I am testing on a Windows OS, and so is Miguel (m_a_riosv). We need testers
with Linux, and then with several different VCL, DE, locale... in order to
narrow down the reason / context in which the percentage symbol is not
automatically added to the numeric value.

Strictly speaking, inserting a plain 2 is indeed equivalent to 200%; the
problem is that the expected percentage symbol is not automatically added in
order to obtain the expected 2%, or 0.02.
