Flash no doubt is getting more attention these days - but having worked in
both I still feel that Flash definitely is not as powerful as Director. It
is no doubt easier to learn than Director - which is why I think more and
more people are migrating to Flash.

Personally, my manager found he could understand Flash easier than Director
and since then has been proposing only Flash as the development platform.

Another major drawback is that Director does not support Unicode!!! A lot of
scientific journals (in a number of languages) are being converted to online
versions and without unicode support - D has to take a back seat. Built-in
support for the pdf format can also help Director take the market lead once
again. But that would be upto Macromedia to decide.
