Red Hat ships with a newer version of RPM than SuSE. Red Hat has used RPM 4.x for quite some time, while SuSE still uses RPM 3.x. The capabilities are a little different, but using: rpm -qa | grep -i ssh should work just fine regardless of the version of RPM used.
