I wrote a minimalist, quick and dirty, implementation of these
functions, and it is released as GPL.
They are available on my website, if you are interested.

No, you said that printing, not displaying, required the GDI.

Question: are the screen and print versions of color the same, or is the
translation between them easy. Most monitors use rgb, while color printers
use cmyk.

That's an expression. Saying that something's days are numbered means
that
it will soon cease to exist.
Or were you complaining about it's vs. its?

Next you'll be checking my grammar and spelling.
You know what I meant.
And you also ignore the fact that I answered, correctly I might add 3

information posted and the screen saver one does as well.

You're honestly comparing detecting something as basic as the RAM count
on a box to something that's vendor-specific like a CDR and CDRW?
The OS doesn't require the difference between a CDR and a CDRW to
function properly, or faster.
That's the worst argument I've yet seen from a Linvocate. It just
keeps getting worse and worse. I suppose it's because the longer
you use Linux the more out of touch with reality you become. I wonder
if anyone is doing a study on this... perhaps you should volunteer.

You mean the "X mouse" functionality? Why not use TweakUI? There's no reason
to edit the registry.
Besides, enabling the X mouse and detecting the RAM (a critical piece of
hardware for the operation of the OS) are two completely different things.
I had said that your ignorant CDR/CDRW argument was the worst I argument

This indeed works (but only under win95, 98 and ME). But it only offers
"sloppy focus" (that is, when the cursor is over the root window, no
other windows can have focus). It would be nice if there were more options.
> Besides, enabling the X mouse and detecting the RAM (a critical piece of

True. But enabling x-mouse and playing games which take console control
can be a bit of a struggle. Again; theres a problem with only offering
"sloppy" focus.

Jason you are not just a twit, you are a very dumb asshole. Your argument was
that a low level cache would make the user of any operating system -- even a
single threaded-one like wincrap anything -- *more productive* because the
machine would run faster then the user of system without a low-level cache
that could multi-task very well. -- Focus on the word "Productive." Look it
up if you don't know what it means.
I did try to explain it you several different times and in several different
ways. You didn't get it. That you keep whining the same stupid idea every time
you lose a point, is proof that either you are a complete nincompoop, or a
petty immature grudge carying idiot, or a person whose parents should
apologize to the world for breeding you. -- My vote is for all three!
I'm not sure why Colorado took you in or keeps you. Perhaps you are their
token dumbbell something and they can't get rid of you. But since you won't go
away and growup, and keep whining the same stupid argument, I am tempted to
locate your boss and ask if you're the department janitor playing with the
computers when no one is looking, or something more. Because you certainly
have never displayed the brains or the good sense to shutup when you're wrong
-- and if you are in any position with responsibility beyond emptying the
trash, it implies to the outside world that the department has no respect for
itself or anyone else -- especially those who are paying good money to be
there.

For once, I think I am inclined to agree with you Bobby. At least in
my neck of the woods (digital audio) Win ME has caused a lot of
problems. Most professionals have stuck with Win98 SE because ME has
proven to be a bag of snakes. I bit the bullet with SE because of ICS
and some other things, but I'm not going near ME but instead waiting
for the next home version for my Digital Audio stuff. There are a lot
of promising features there (WDM drivers which reduce latency for
example) but from the reports I have, it's just not ready yet.
