In HACKING EXPOSED, 2nd Edition, Chapter 5 "Hacking Windows NT", various
ways of obtaining root priviledge are discussed. They conclude that
it is no cakewalk, but that you must take strenuous administrative steps.
The one they recommend most is getting Windows 2000 (in lieu of grabbing
SP6a and some more recent hot-fixes.)

ONLY if the video card manufacturer AND the monitor manufacturer
provide the proper drivers.

That functionality is NOT built-in on windows. [So, what else is new]

Measureably faster, maybe. I can't tell the difference in speed between
Word 2000 on the Pentium II 450 I use at work and Word 97 on the
plain old Pentium 120 I used at work about four years ago. Both could
be very painful sometimes.

I'm talking about a properly defined syntax for the byte-stream.

Any IPC bytestream that can be implemented in sockets can be
implemented through pipes.

I remember thinking that the 4 GB address space of the VAX-11 series
was essentially infinite....and then 2 years ago, at Kmart, we set
up a server for a pilot program with 1.5G of memory on board.
That was in a medium-sized warehouse. The large warehouses will
probably need 3G.
