Not only are you erroneously presupposing that I am mentally disturbed,
you're also erroneously presupposing that Kulkis is telling the truth.

Why don't you call their attention to the alleged problem, Charlie?
Afraid doing so will say more about you than about me?

Well, I switched to a Linux supported sound card.

I also added a second network card.

Windows 98 SE detected both, but had no drivers for them. I installed them
later and everything was working fine.

Linux detected the sound card but didn't actually appear to configure it. I
ran sndconfig and heard a badly distorted sound sample. Strange! I started
up X and KDE 2.0 launched with a pleasant startup sound. Hmm, so that works
after all.

Linux did not detect the second network card - does that mean that Linux
2.2 does not support two network cards or it simply doesn't recognise the
card?

It's called hype. Everybody does it.

Why would you want to customize a kernel? Don't worry I can think of many
reasons why. I'd love to be able to leave Internet Explorer out of Windows
but I can't. So, I live with it.

However, I'm quite happy with a prebuilt kernel. I use one on Linux.

Microsoft hit 100 security bugs in 2000. An infamous record. There
were more security bugs in IIS than anything else. How are Microsoft
sys admins supposed to keep up. There were even sucurity bugs
introduced by the patches that were supposed to fix previous security
bugs. They just can't do anything right. Any admin that applies a
Microsoft security patch (or any Microsoft patch going by their past
record) on a strategic system before testing it themselves on an
isolated box deserves what they get. So there is a single worm
affecting non-patched RedHat systems. Just think of how many Microsoft
systems are out there which haven't been patched?

Your concept of free is rather different than mine. In the US those with
money are free to exploit the majority. You only need to look at your
recent election and what Bush is already doing to realise you are far
from free. In most european countries it is much harder for those with
wealth to distort politics and force their desires on those not so
fortunate. Note I did say 'harder'. It does happen all the time of course
but nowhere near to the extent in the US.

The main reason most new technology orignates in the US is that you do
have incredible wealth. As for software, and many other areas of new
technology, much of it is done by immigrants. Your educational system
is a joke and with Bush it is going to become even worse. India is
already well on the way to becoming a major software developing
nation. And what about China? They won't pay the Microsoft tax and
hence are pushing Linux everywhere as is France. The US has had it
good for a long time but the rest of the world isn't sitting
still. Interesting times ahead methinks.

Too true. Most democracies in the world exist because brave people gave
up their lives to get it. Now we have the situation where large multi-
national companies control politics. You cannot vote this kind of thing
out, especially in the US where both party's are almost as bad as each
other. I'm sure, come the next US presidential election, nothing will
have been done to control campaign spending. The difference next time
is that the fundy Christians will have greater control than they do now.

Can anyone tell me why there were 2 ministers speaking at Bush's inauguration
and why he said 'so help me god' at the end of his oath? I though religion
and state were separate in the US.

What complacency! Yes the Florida vote was a joke. What I don't understand
is why, when the difference between the candidates state wide was less than
the margin of error of the machines counting the votes, a mandatory manual
count of the whole state wasn't done. I'm only using this as an example as
I'm sure there were many states where this should have happened. You now
have a president with very strong christian views (I use the term christian
very loosely as where did Jesus ever say you should execute people) imposing
them on a country where he doesn't even have a majority of those who voted.

Christians aren't the only people to have morals. Most religions are based
on morals and atheists have morals. Jimmy Carter is a sincere christian
but he didn't ram christianity down peoples throats. The religious right
in the US is an oxymoron. If you have ever read the new testament you
would know this. I'm an atheist by the way who had a very moral upbringing.

Pleasepost the producent and modem of Network cards and the same for the
sound card. This way this "bug" could be reused by other wintrolls.

Off course youre a game developer... cant you even solve a basic hardware
problem? Why even brag about that you cant solve it?
